They are not mutually exclusive, in my opinion! I love Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco with equal fervor.

Yeah, it was the same for me. I remembered some of the really insane bits, like who died and the epilogue, but other than that the actual plot had gone to fuzz in my mind.
