I would so happily read Outtakes From Harry Potter: Pointless Scenes of Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, and Hermione Granger Arguing, Joking Around, and Generally Being Adorable Best Friends.

Which is to say that I finished rereading Deathly Hallows yesterday afternoon and have mildly stunned even myself with just how desperately overinvested in the trio I am. Is this an unpopular opinion? I am unsure. But I love them so much. I totally cried, which is a bit weird since I don't remember crying at all the first time I read that book, except maybe when Hedwig died. This time around I probably cried at least a little every hundred pages.

Instead of doing anything productive with my life, this will be my cue to listen to Stephen Fry's audiobooks of the series. And also to pick up with reading a fuckload of fanfiction. How can I not want to find out why Draco Malfoy fled to San Francisco to become a stereotypically effeminate gay barista with a pierced ear and dyed hair?

idthink being overinvested in the trio is an unpopular opinion? I mean obvs it depends on the corner of fandom you're in, but. trio! ♥ I don't remember crying at all when I read it, but I was reading it with my friend and she sobbed through the last hundred pages or so? It was kind of uncomfortable, lolol.

I don't want to be in a corner of fandom that doesn't share my love. >:( Not that I'm really in a corner of the HP fandom at all.

lol awkward. DDD: I wasn't with anyone, at least.

I cried SO HARD at the end of Deathly Hallows, and I do it every single time. I'm left just curled up with it and crying. I'm over invested in the trio, yes, but...my heart utterly broke for Severus Snape. Like, I've pretty much been a Snape fan from the beginning, and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS adored him, even when the 6th book came out.

And...then this. I cried so hard that I had to take a break when I was reading it the first time.

I'm not going to lie, I think that Deathly Hallows was a perfect end to the series, despite wanting a MILLION more stories, LOL

Mmm, yay fanfiction. Also, JK has my eternal love for totally supporting fanfiction and how they deal with the aftermath. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Man. I forgot how much I loved Harry Potter.

I loved the end to DH! Well, if I'm being honest I try to politely ignore the epilogue, but the actual end I think is perfect.

HP is wonderful.

You know...I must be one of the only ones ti like the epilogue. IDK. I'm weird, but I love how it was wrapped up, and how that...I think despite her not wanting to write more, I think...maybe she was leaving it open to the fic writers. She's said before that she thinks those who write stories in the series are marvelous. She loves that there's fan fiction about these characters.

So...maybe there's that. But I liked it, weird as that is!

And it issss. ♥

[identity profile] peridium.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I am just so charmed by the actual ending pre-epilogue, with Harry and Ron and Hermione and the portraits applauding and it all being so perfect. :( That just felt like the perfect place to end it to me. I'm also sort of weirded out by the fact that Harry and Ginny had three kids and couldn't come up with a new name for any of them.

Ohhh yeah. I'm rather fond of Peeves summation of the battle. XD

I dunno...I liked the epilogue for the way that it shows how Harry grew from...thrust into adulthood to..being an adult. That's the best way I can think to put it, honestly, but I loved Ron in it. Ron teasing his kids about not being in Gryffindor and Harry's speech to Al made me awwww. And ahahhaa, it's Harry and Ginny. Harry who's sentimental to the end and Ginny who's...Ginny. Of course they're not going to come up with new names. LMAO

I found being overinvested in Hermione to be particularly easy.

[identity profile] peridium.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
God, yes. /o\ I adore her and I don't care at all if it's because she's JKR's Sue or anything.

[identity profile] myaurasmiles.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
She's not an awful Sue for a Sue. She's balanced out enough to be a likable character to me.

[identity profile] peridium.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! I mean, male characters are unbelievably awesome all the time and they don't get called out on it. Just because she's a girl doesn't mean Hermione can't be as excellent as she is.

[identity profile] myaurasmiles.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I liked the fact that she still got frazzled, despite being very smart and talented, because I always get bored by characters that are just good at everything and never get bothered by anything at all.

[identity profile] peridium.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, definitely. And she was bossy and sometimes annoying and overbearing, but they'd have still all died tons of times without her.

[identity profile] myaurasmiles.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not her fault that she knows better. If they didn't let her be grate, they would be dead.

[identity profile] peridium.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
She just wants them to be doper people, which starts with teaching them how to properly transfigure themselves into trains. :(

[identity profile] myaurasmiles.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be really dope to kill Voldemort. Just saying.

HARRY'S TRUE MOTIVATIONS BECOME CLEAR.

[identity profile] myaurasmiles.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
He just wanted to cement his position in Hermione's posse.

[identity profile] tortugax.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
i always thought i was the weird one for not being overly invested in the trio. they are by no means my favorites. i was always more interested in hearing about snape and draco lol. i'm definitely more a fan of the side characters than anyone else.

i've been itching to reread dh lately, because i've only read it once, and that was the night i bought it and read it straight through into the next morning, so most of my memories of what actually happens in the book are reaaaaally fuzzy lmao.

[identity profile] peridium.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
They are not mutually exclusive, in my opinion! I love Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco with equal fervor.

Yeah, it was the same for me. I remembered some of the really insane bits, like who died and the epilogue, but other than that the actual plot had gone to fuzz in my mind.

[identity profile] peridium.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I HAVEN'T FOUND OUT YET. >:( There's been a lot of clubbing and drinking and gay sex but not a lot of plot.

[identity profile] stardustonsable.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
whaaaaaaaat surely a masterpiece such as that is wrought with intricate plot development :p

[identity profile] signsonaves.livejournal.com 2009-08-19 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
I keep trying to reread DH and stopping because I know if I keep going more people are going to die. I am so, so not over Hedwig or Dobby. ;___;

Also I very strongly feel that you should provide a link to this punk barista!Draco Malfoy fic.
